Avolution has been recognized by Gartner Inc., as a Representative Vendor in its “Market Guide for Application Portfolio Management Tools,” published August 2021.*

Application Portfolio Management has become a mainstay as organizations look to reduce their IT spending to make room for new technologies. The average global company can save between 20% and 30% of its IT budget by retiring redundant applications. For enterprise architects looking for quick wins, application rationalization (APM) is an excellent place to focus efforts.

Gartner explains in this Market Guide for Application Portfolio Management Tools that: “APM is an ongoing discipline, and many organizations report data quality issues after the initial data capture. Good data maintenance capabilities are key as stale data severely impacts the credibility and value of the APM initiative.”

As per the report “Application portfolio management (APM) tools support the people, processes and information of the APM IT discipline to discover, monitor, analyze and visualize the fitness of the application portfolio and provide recommendations for improvement.”

In this Market Guide, Gartner analysts recognize coverage levels for each of the feature categories as follows:

  • Data capture and maintenance
  • Application inventory
  • Integration
  • Business and cost fitness
  • Technical fitness
  • Analysis
  • Visualization
  • Recommendations
  • Life cycle planning and roadmapping
  • Generic capabilities

According to Gartner, “organizations are moving away from one-off APM initiatives to continuous APM. They abandon their spreadsheet-based application inventories moving to APM tools that provide better support, especially in the area of data maintenance”. .”

Avolution was recognized in this Market Guide for its ABACUS toolset. ABACUS also supports enterprise architecture, strategy and digital operations through modeling, analysis, and roadmapping.
