Avolution recognized in Gartner’s Market Guide for Strategy and Innovation Roadmapping Tools

How do EA and digital transformation leaders build roadmaps which communicate common goals, plan work packages and manage change?

Avolution has been recognized by Gartner Inc. as a Representative Vendor in its “Market Guide for Strategy and Innovation Roadmapping Tools”*, published 30 October 2019.

According to the report “we describe the market for strategy and innovation roadmapping tools. Enterprise architecture and technology innovation leaders use these tools to visualize complex relationships and interdependencies over time to convey the state of plans and change to senior business leaders.”

Avolution was evaluated for its ABACUS toolset. ABACUS supports enterprise architecture, strategy, innovation and change initiatives through modeling, analysis, and road mapping.

Gartner Analyst Philip Allega explains in the Market Guide: “Strategy planning and technology innovation support are becoming increasingly important to EA and technology innovation leaders. With that, the ability to visually and dynamically make linkages between plans and actuals, analyze opportunities and challenges, and consider and prioritize innovation — all over time — is beyond the ability of paper or documents alone.

Strategy and innovation roadmapping tools can help this role support leaders to visualize, categorize and place in temporal order the various plans, projects, assets, and their interrelationships and interdependencies. In turn, this provides an organization with the ability to consider a larger number of future opportunities (and progression toward those goals) than can be held within the brain of a single person.”

Gartner recommends that enterprise architecture and technology innovation leaders must  “use this class of tool, and functionality, to engage stakeholders with a visual representation of the state of change relative to plans, in-flight efforts and existing assets given strategic goals, strategies, missions and/or objectives.”

Avolution’s Dr Tim O’Neill said: “To us, being able to visualize the incremental steps of change at the macro and micro level is a necessary part of creating narratives that motivate people across the workplace.

“Roadmaps also need to be connected to technology, infrastructure, and processes which underpin business systems. As architects, we can then generate strategy and innovation roadmaps and use these to refresh models of the current and target states, and vice versa. Users of ABACUS are able to collaborate on both everyday data management, architecture artifacts, and strategic decision making.”
