Avolution features at UK’s most prominent data summit

Updated on

The Information Age flagship data conference is the UK’s leading event focussed on generating business value from data.

Data Summit – to be held in London on 18 May – looks at data not just from an analytics and intelligence angle, but also from an infrastructure and transformation perspective covering strategy and innovation and security and governance.

Avolution’s Dr Tim O’Neill will participate in a data panel discussion at the Summit.

Dr O’Neill said: “Every part of the business now needs data — accessible data, secure data, reliable data and most of all, data which can form the basis of understanding and strategy.

“Data – and healthy IT systems – are critical to everything from sales and marketing, to cybersecurity, and also to compliance. Data Officers need to keep on top of the requirements of legislation such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2)– for financial institutions the updated Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) and of course Basel II, Solvency II and Sarbanes Oxley.”

Avolution understands that many IT, Security or Risk professionals are currently grappling with GDPR compliance, and has prepared a whitepaper A Six Step Action Plan for GDPR compliance: model data flows using enterprise architecture.” This maps out a process for gaining visibility of data flows and data provenance, including strategies for locating Shadow IT.

“Managing data well often means re-engineering existing systems and processes. Rather than re-inventing the wheel, the most efficient CIOs and Chief Risk Officers use a centralized and analytics-enabled architecture “blueprint” as their standby reference for managing their IT estate and business processes.

Avolution’s ABACUS toolset is designed to support architects and other practitioners in managing data well, allowing companies to model their systems and processes and test and optimize these systems using best-in-class analytics and scenario planning techniques.
